Meet the Seamstress...
🌷 About Me
Hi there! My name is Halaina, and I am a young lady (almost 20) who loves to sew. I am also a disciple of Jesus Christ/Yeshua Messiah, and I believe that we should dress modestly. I am excited to hopefully bless other families who are on the same journey with affordable, beautiful modest clothing.
I am the oldest in my family. and have many younger siblings. We live in Minnesota. I am currently battling chronic Lyme disease and mold toxicity, so I have a lot of health challenges at this time. Because of this, I may need a little extra time in filling your orders. Thank you so much for your patience. 🙂
🌷 My Website Name
“Modestly Feminine — where modesty & femininity unite!”
My dream is to create clothing that is very feminine-looking and pretty, while not compromising on modesty standards that I believe are important.
🌷 My Heart Behind This Shop
The goal of Modestly Feminine is to unite both of these ideas:
Feminine clothing makes me think of pretty dresses and skirts, ruffles, lace, floral fabrics, and soft details. However, feminine clothing on its own may not always provide enough coverage.
Â
Modest clothing means clothing that covers the body according to a biblical standard of modesty (based on various Scripture passages about clothing, the human body, and purity). Based on my understanding, this includes not exposing the thighs or cleavage. I believe clothing should not be tight-fitting, low neckline (including when bending over), sleeveless, or above-the-knee.
Modest clothing can sometimes be very simple, with plain styles and dark solid colors, but I don’t see biblical evidence that beauty, color, or design is wrong. I believe God gave us colors to enjoy, and they reflect His beauty and creativity.
Â
So, to sum it up, my goal is to unite both ideas—to create beautiful, feminine, modest clothing that is also affordable.
Note: I realize that definitions of “modest clothing” can vary, even among those who seek to base it on the Bible. However, I believe that as God-fearers, we should do our best to use Scripture as our guide rather than only cultural ideas of decency.
🌷 Payment
I have chosen not to use a conventional card payment processor on my site. All of the payment networks and most payment processors have values very different from mine, so I try to support them as little as possible.
Because of this, I accept payment through:
- Zelle (preferred — instant and free)
- Check or money order
Thank you for understanding and supporting my small business.
🌷 Sewing Inspiration
I have been blessed by several wonderful ladies who have encouraged me in my sewing journey. One of these is Hope Agustin (@homesewnmama on Instagram). While we do not share the same standards of modesty, her sewing tips, tutorials, encouragement, and support of my small business have been a tremendous blessing to me. I am deeply grateful for her kindness and willingness to help others learn.
I would also love to share sewing and modesty tips that I have learned along the way. I hope to start some kind of blog in the future, but for now, I’m happy to help answer questions from other young ladies (or any ladies) who reach out.
Â
On a side note, I have also collected a variety of used homeschool books and curriculum over the years. I enjoy making these available to other homeschooling families. Feel free to check out my page on Homeschool Classifieds if you’d like to see what I currently have available!
